BAREILLY: Dr Umesh Gautam, Mayor, Bareilly, has been unanimously elected as the President of Mayors Association of Uttar Pradesh (UP). 17 Mayors took part in the elections which were held in Lucknow on Tuesday, March 16. The session was inaugurated by Dinesh Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister (CM) of UP.
Dr Umesh Gautam was announced as the President of Mayors Association in the next event of the session. He met CM Yogi Adityanath and Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma after the session. The discussion in the meeting was held on the issue of extending the powers and responsibilities of Mayors.
Gautam said in the meeting that the issues of Mayors should be solved as soon as possible. He added that a strong Mayor is the basic necessity to strengthen the development of an urban region. Deputy CM Dinesh Sharma said that a Mayor is the leader of all the intellectuals in the region and therefore nothing is out of bounds for them.
