NEW DELHI: In a bid to increase awareness among masses of Delhi, 50 specially designed autorickshaws with integrated real time pollution monitoring system were set across the Delhi on July 3. These autorickshaws will display real time air quality on the display screens attached to them.
This initiative is promoted under a campaign called “Hawa Badle Hum” which was launched by GAIL India. B C Tripathi, CMD, GAIL India, flagged these modified autos from Bhikaji Cama Place and urged people to fight against the growing menace.
A statement by GAIL India said that the campaign was also being complemented by a newly launched web series “Hawa Badle Hassu”. “This series is hinged on entertainment conveying messages that stands for a crusade against air pollution and environment conservation,” the statement added.
According to GAIL India, the campaign has been able to improve the dipping air quality in the country by collaborative citizen’s effort for the past three years.
The movement encourages an environmental-friendly and sustainable lifestyle by promoting practices like planting trees, cycling and walking, carpooling, using public transport, conserving energy and using cleaner energy sources like natural gas for industries, CNG for automobiles & PNG for commercial uses, the statement added.
