New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has once again warned the malls, hotels, and hospitals charging parking fees from ordinary people. The corporation has said that the parking charges are violation of the building rules and that such institutions can be sealed.
South Corporation has started preparing for the new rules to get the benefits of the parking available in the shopping malls and hospitals located in the area. The corporation says that the parking is mentioned as free on the building map of these hospitals, hotels and shopping malls. This is why they have been given a discount on the floor area ratio (FAR) of the building.
Recently, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the corporation, Shikha Rai, inspected the Hotel Hyatt in this regard. There was a complaint of getting two hundred rupees in the name of parking here. After the talks with the corporation officials, they said hotel agreed with full agreement on making parking available for free.
Also, the corporation has been surveying restaurants which do not have parking space. In this way, people coming there park their vehicles around, causing traffic snarls. The corporation believes that the restaurants which do not have parking around the restaurant, their license should be canceled.
According to Shikha Rai, there are complaints about some parking malls and hospitals are charging people for parking. Given this SDMC is preparing a list of such places and will issue them a show-cause notice.
