GUWAHATI: The Government of Assam announced on Thursday, August 26 that the state’s flood situation is deteriorating and that over 86,000 people across five districts have been affected. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) stated that Bongaigaon has faced the most serious brunt of the flood and over 53,000 people have been impacted in the area. They added that over 16,000 people in Dhemanji and 13,200 in Chirang are currently in distress.
Currently, 174 villages are underwater with over 5,147.34 hectares of crop area damaged across Assam.
According to an official statement released by ASDMA, 34 relief camps have been set up across four districts which are helping 6,592 people by giving them shelter.
