DISPUR, Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a collaborative team of experts from the Netherlands, along with specialists from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati and IIT Roorkee, will develop a plan to address Guwahati’s persistent flooding issues.
The joint team is set to design and implement a strategy within the next three years, aiming to redirect water from Meghalaya to Silshaku Beel and Dipor Beel. Chief Minister Sarma expressed confidence that this strategic intervention will significantly enhance flood mitigation efforts, strengthen Guwahati’s infrastructure resilience, and protect communities from the adverse effects of flooding.
