Assam CM inaugurates largest solar park of state

DISPUR, Assam: In a move to boost the renewable energy production in the state, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on May 31, inaugurated the largest ever solar power plant of Assam in Amguri, Sivasagar district.

The solar power plant established at Amguri is spread across 340 acres of land and it has a capacity to produce 70 Mega Watt of power, which will enhance the renewable energy capacity of the state. The plant was inaugurated by CM Sarma in a ceremony held at the ground of Amguri Gyan Bikash Vidyapeeth.

Amguri solar power plant has been jointly established by Jackson Power Private Limited acting as Solar Power Developer (SPD) and Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGCL) acting as Solar Power Park Developer (SPPD).

CM Sarma posted on his twitter “Glad to dedicate the 70-MW solar park at Amguri that is spread over 340 acres. This is in line with meeting our renewable energy obligations under Sustainable Development Goals. I also announced increasing Assam Orunodoi Scheme beneficiaries by 7 lakh across Assam, including 7,000 in Amguri.”

He also mentioned that Rs 2 crores will be provided to Amguri Kendriya Mandir and Rs 7 crores will be allotted to the reconstruction of a hospital at Amguri. The capacity of Amguri Hospital will be enhanced to 100 beds.
