Arunachal Pradesh: ‘SVANidhi Mahotsav’ to raise awareness among street vendors

ITANAGAR, Arunachal Pradesh: Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) organised ‘SVANidhi Mahotsav’, at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre, on Friday, July 22, to raise awareness regarding the Government of India’s collateral free credit scheme Prime Minister Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi, amongst the street vendors of Arunachal Pradesh.

At the event, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brigadier Dr B D Mishra (Retd.) and Mayor of IMC Tame Phassang conferred certificates and cash awards to the five best street vendors from the region.

While addressing the gathering, Dr Mishra asked the street vendors to maintain a hygienic environment in these markets and avoid using single-use plastic bags, thus contributing to the development of society. Additionally, he also asked the vendors to sell indigenous products such as homemade pickles, handicraft items, vegetables and cuisines.

The Governor also asked the IMC officials to raise awareness regarding the PM SVANidhi scheme and connect the vendors with the other schemes of the central government like PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, One Nation – One Ration Card, PM Shram Mandhan Yojana and Janani Suraksha Yojana.

Apart from this, Dr Mishra also inaugurated the ‘Vendors Mela’ in which various stalls will be installed by the local vendors and encourage them to use innovative steps to enhance their daily wages. Dr B D Mishra took to twitter and posted, “As part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, participated in the SVANidhi Mohotsav, organised by Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC). Felicitated five best vendors.”
