Arunachal CM inaugurates country’s longest steel cable suspension bridge

YINGKIONG: Pema Khandu, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh inaugurated India’s longest single lane steel cable suspension bridge – Byorung Bridge on January 9, 2019. The bridge is 300 metre long. Speaking on the occasion, Pema Khandu said, “Byorung Bridge, built at a cost of ₹48.43 crore provided by the DONER (Department for Development of North Eastern Region) Ministry, will reduce the distance from Yingkiong to Tuting by almost 40 km.”

Byorung Bridge is built over Siang River. It is expected to reduce the distance from Yingkiong to Tuting for around 20,000 people by almost 40 km. Earlier Tuting, near China border in upper Siang, was 192 km away before the bridge was built.

CM Khandu also announced a project worth of Rs 10 crore to check river erosion at Yingkiong and Tuting.

CM also laid the foundation stone for a district secretariat building.
