VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh: P. Keshav, Finance Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced that the state government would allocate Rs 1,452 crore to local bodies across the state to accelerate development projects at the ward levels. This significant financial boost is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance local governance and infrastructure.
The decision to release these funds follows the directives of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, who emphasised the need to expedite developmental works across the state. Of the total amount, Rs 998 crore has been earmarked specifically for panchayats, and Rs 454 crore will be allocated to local urban bodies that oversee municipalities and other urban regions.
“The release of these funds is intended to fast-track development initiatives at the grassroots level,” Keshav stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to strengthening local bodies. “Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed that these funds be effectively utilised to improve infrastructure and service delivery, ensuring that the benefits of development reach every corner of the state.”
This move is expected to empower local bodies by providing them with the necessary financial resources to address various local needs, thereby enhancing the quality of life for residents and fostering overall socio-economic growth within the state.
