KURNOOL: Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, Minister of Finance, Government of Andhra Pradesh, launched the first Prime Minister’s Wifi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) project at Uyyalawada village, Kurnool district. As per the project, the Public Data Offices (PDOs) will function like Public Call Offices (PCOs) to facilitate use data service at cheaper rates for everyone.
The project is being implemented by Tess and Tera Techno Solutions Private Limited as part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The company is first Public Data Office Aggregator (PDOA) and app provider of Andhra Pradesh and the project is executed under the name ‘Wi-DOT’. As part of National Digital Communication Plan, the Government of India has set the target to install millions of Wifi hotspots by 2022. This will be facilitated by PM-WANI scheme.
Sanjeeva Kumar, Founder, Tess and Tera Techno Solutions Pvt Ltd, said that this will accelerate the spread of public Wifi hotspots and will help local business such as chaiwala, kirana stores, etc., earn extra revenue.
