VIJAYAWADA: In an attempt to increase the awareness and support energy efficiency movement, Nilam Sawhney, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh has directed Andhra Pradesh State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) to devise a concept of Energy Clubs to be implemented in all schools in the state.
A statement issued by APSECM on December 8 said, the clubs will promote the concept of environment protection among students and competitions will be organised related to energy efficiency. The initiative will be taken up with the support of Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
In order to promote the energy efficiency and conservation, the State government has also declared to celebrate National Energy Conservation Week (NECW) 2019 from December 14 to 20. The Chief Secretary will be sending letters to all the stakeholders to devise a plan for suitable action to be taken up at the district level.
Nilam said, “Before telling people, is it not our responsibility to implement and follow energy efficiency in all government departments? We must strive hard to be exemplary to all in energy efficiency.”
