NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh has topped the list of states in implementing various welfare health schemes under National Health Mission (NHM). The survey conducted by National Health Mission (NHM) found that Andhra Pradesh took over Gujarat and Karnataka in the past one and a half year. Welfare schemes such as YSR Aarogyasri, Jagananna Amma Vodi, Vidya Divena, YSR Rythu Bharosa, etc are being run successfully by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The state is on top in the measures taken to prevent non-communicable disease under NHM as it surveyed more than 5 crore people to examine the diseases such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes. YSR Health Clinics contribute significantly to the state marking with health and wellness centres across the state. 104-ambulance service provides basic medical care and facilities free of cost to every village in the state. The state has more than 10,000 health and wellness centres and 8,604 new buildings are constructed to focus on providing 12 types of medical services.
However, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have shown significant progress in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and family planning measures. The state has also topped in the area of linking the Reproductive and Child Portal (RCH). RCH is for early identification and tracking of beneficiaries throughout the reproductive cycle of women to monitor and support via reproductive, maternal, child health and new-born schemes.
