Andhra Pradesh to get 30 Skill Development Centres

HYDERABAD: Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh, instructed the authorities to speed up the construction of 30 Skill Development Centres (SDC) in the state. These SDCs are to be divided in such format so as to cover all the parliamentary constituencies of the state. During a review meeting, Reddy said that these centres will contribute towards an increase in highly skilled workforce and industry development. 

SDCs will have around 162 courses, which will include 127 courses related to Finishing Skills and 35 for Alternative Employment. Land for these colleges has already been set aside in 20 locations and search is on for the remaining. Four international organisations- Singapore Polytechnic, Van Hall Larenstein (University of Applied Studies), GIZ and Department for International Development, have partnered with the state government for designing the skill development curriculum. 23 reputed organisations including Dell, Tata, HP, IBM, Biocon and others have come forward for setting up lab infrastructure in these SDCs.
