VIJAYAWADA: The Government of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, July 6, gave a green signal to the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) Ltd to go forward with the plan to introduce electric two-wheelers for state government employees on a voluntary basis. The state government has requested the officials to support the adoption of e-vehicles on voluntary basis to achieve the objectives of Andhra Pradesh’s e-mobility policy.
According to the official order, the NREDCAP has developed an online portal and a mobile app for approval, processing and monitoring of the scheme. Interested candidates can apply for the e-vehicle on zero down payment with equal monthly instalments (EMIs) for 24 to 60 months. The scheme has been formulated with funding support from the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), and other agencies to provide electric two wheelers on EMI basis.
The two wheelers will be provided to government employees, including cooperative societies, Public Sector Undertakings and pensioners, with some special focus on village/ward secretariat staff and other low-paid employees. The scheme is expected to be launched shortly by Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
