Amit Shah inaugurates development projects in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: Amit Shah, Minister of Home Affairs, Government of India, on Sunday, July 24, inaugurated various projects of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority. Shah represents the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency and was on a two-day visit to Gujarat from July 23 to July 24.

On July 23, Shah inaugurated several projects, including an e-FIR system, Integrated Command and Control Centre named ‘Trinetra’, among others at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar for smart policing. He dedicated 10,000 body-worn cameras and 80 new vehicles for the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. The ‘Trinetra’ integrates feed from 7000 CCTV cameras from different district-level centres, 15 drone cameras and 10,000 body-worn cameras of police personnel. The e-FIR system will allow the lodging of a First Information Report (FIR) for a vehicle or mobile theft directly through a portal or mobile app without visiting a police station.

On July 24, Shah dedicated various projects worth Rs 211 crore for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. He also said that the Kalupur Railway Station will be developed on the theme of Modhera Sun Temple in the next five years and that Sabarmati Railway Station will get additional connectivity to destinations in South India. Shah announced development of a tourist centre at cost of Rs 100 crore and 14 lakes under the AUDA areas will be inter-connected in Ahmedabad. He added that 1200 new ponds will be developed in the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha region. He inaugurated a water supply project for Bhopal and Ghuma localities which will provide over 70,000 households with Narmada drinking water. He also inaugurated a water supply project worth Rs 77.5 crore and a housing project worth Rs 7.73 crore.
