AGRA: The Agra Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials have decided to take strict action to curb the air pollution caused by dust at the construction work.

A fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed on people responsible for not taking measures to curb dust pollution during construction works. For the purpose, the civic body administration has entrusted the engineers and field officials to identify and inspect the construction sites to ensure that the guidelines set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) are being followed.

According to the civil body officials, it is compulsory to sprinkle water every day to suppress the suspension of dust at the construction sites. All construction and destruction needs to be covered when the debris and building materials are stored or when they are being taken. Barricades should be raised along the perimeter of construction or demolition sites. Shade nets, tarpaulins or plastic sheets can be used for staging. There are many other guidelines laid down by the NGT during the construction and demolition.

In this regard, the Municipal Commissioner has instructed that strict action should be taken against those who violate the NGT norms.
