THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Kerala: M B Rajesh, Minister for Local Self-Government and Excise, Government of Kerala, announced that all the buildings in Kerala to have a unique building number.
The move is being implemented in line with the concept of ‘ease of doing business’ as this new system will help ease the identification process of buildings and simplify many of the service procedures. The Information Kerala Mission (IKM) has been designated the nodal agency for this. Rajesh added further that this move will play a significant role in the development of the state.
Right now in the urban and rural areas of Kerala, building numbers are allocated using a software ‘Sanchaya’. Building numbers include ward number, door number and sub-number. A unique building number will be generated using the same software.
Minister Rajesh said that this unique building number will be provided to the consumers during the preparation of the demand register of property tax, ownership certificate, and demand notice and payment of the property tax.
