Alarms raised as IMD issued red alert in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A red alert has been declared by Indian meteorological department (IMD) in Kozhikode, Kannur, Idukki, Wayanad, Malappuram districts of Kerala as flood like situation have already raised in some places. IMD have predicted over 20 cm of heavy rainfall between July 19-22. The weather agency hoped to see heavy rainfall in second spell of the monsoon in the state. Some district of state like Kasargod have already declared holiday for all educational institutes and colleges due to red alert being declared in the district. 

IMD has said, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, rain and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur in the districts of Mumbai and suburbs during the next four hours.
