NASHIK, Maharashtra: The Nasik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to install 40 AI-driven traffic signals in the city with fifteen new installations and replace 25 old ones.
The duration for red lights varies between 15 seconds and 120 seconds at different locations. However, artificial intelligence (AI) traffic signals would change colors depending on the traffic flow.
A Nashik Municipal Corporation official stated that the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation (NMSCDCL) will install the traffic signals and all the traffic signals to be connected with optical fiber cable (OFC) lines by the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL)—the signals to be controlled from the command and control room of the smart city company.
An NMSCDCL official mentioned that they have already replaced 23 old ones at Vidya Vikas Circle, Prasad Circle, Anandvalli Chowk on Gangapur Road, and other locations.
