AGRA: Agra Municipal Corporation administration will soon set up a vigilance wing to control corruption in the civic body. This wing will check irregularities in the civic body and collect the data of employees about their unethical behaviour in its different department. The wing will also look after discipline in its corporation. Mayor Naveen Jain will soon file the proposal with the state government.
Retired army men will be selected for the post of vigilance officers said, Mayor. According to him, the Work on the formation of a vigilance wing is in process. The wing will keep records of all the employees in office and also have the right to check official documents. It will also keep an eye on the way employees work and the way they deal with the public. The wing may also check the movement of unauthorized elements inside AMC premises. They will have the authority to question any official if they find any irregularity.
The main aim is to put a tab on corruption in the civic body and secure public interest. Vigilance officers will look into all complaints regarding malpractices, look for evidence in cases and submit a fact-finding report. These reports will be acted on in time and errant officials will be pulled up”, he added in his statement.
