AGARTALA, Tripura: The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is all set to achieve a significant milestone as the city gears up for its first municipal hospital. The move has garnered support from the Tripura Government, which will aid the corporation with doctors and nurses as well as operational finance for two years.

The new municipal hospital will have 50 beds. It will be a 24,000 square foot building, of which 80 per cent of the construction has been completed.

After completion, this hospital will provide free treatment and medicine. It will also have an ambulance service that will cater to all 51 wards of Agartala city.

Earlier, Kiran Gitte, Health Secretary, Sailash Yadav, Municipal Commissioner, and director of the National Health Mission, visited the site to finalise the plans.

The hospital will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha on August 15th.

At the initial stage, the state government will be providing doctors, nurses, and financial support for two years. After that, the Agartala Corporation will manage the hospital independently.

The new hospital will greatly help the existing health infrastructure to provide quality medical care to the local population. The expansion of the health facility has been also on the agenda to meet the growing demand in the future.
