GUWAHATI: The air cargo service in northeast India get a boost as SpiceJet’s subsidiary Spice Fresh on January 1, 2019, launched a separate air cargo service. On the launch occasion, two flights took off to Dubai and Hong Kong, each carrying one thousand kilograms of mandarin fruits to export.
Chandra Mohan Patowary, Minister of Industries and Commerce flagged of the flights and said, “Assam, as well as the other northeastern states, are considered to be an organic hub. With a view to creating a sustainable market for these fruits, the state industries and commerce department has initiated efforts to provide logistical and infrastructural support for export of
SpiceJet officials said that their flight will serve 18 tons of cargo from Guwahati and Kolkata to Hong Kong daily.
The event was jointly organized by the state industries and commerce department, Airport Authority of India (AAI) and AAI Cargo, Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited.
