NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has submitted a report to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) telling the environmental court that it maintains 924 parks, while 18 parks are available for social gatherings and events.

Earlier, the environmental court asked the DDA and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to upload information regarding the parks under their jurisdiction on their official website. The directive entails that the information should include maintenance details, geo-coordinates, and encroachment, if any.

Directives came in response to a plea filed with NGT on March 2023, complaining to the court that the Buddha Park near Mayur Vihar Pocket-I Metro Station is illegally being used for social events, functions, and weddings. The plea also said that the organisers use diesel generators for electricity supply and play loud music, causing problems for residents.

NGT also directed the web portal should have a link where the residents could raise their complaints regarding the maintenance of parks.
