KOHIMA, Nagaland: The Government of Nagaland has informed the Supreme Court that the bill reserving 33 per cent of seats for women in Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) has been passed by the state legislative assembly and the election process will be completed by April 30, 2024.

Bill providing for reservation of seats in favour of women has been unanimously passed by the Nagaland assembly, thereby resolving the long contentious quota issue. Passage of the bill will also pave the way for civic elections in the state after two decades. Last urban local bodies election in the state took place in 2004.
