NEW DELHI: The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Thursday, January 27, cleared multiple proposals for the transfer of plots of land for projects under Phase-4 of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), officials said. Prior to giving a nod to these proposals, the BJP-led NDMC House witnessed ruckus as members of opposition held placards and protested, alleging encroachment of some land by senior BJP leader Adesh Gupta.
The administering party within the North Delhi Civil Organisation has denied the accusation. “AAP individuals challenged over the issue due to which the mayor soon suspended the House. It reconvened after almost half an hour but individuals kept on protesting. In the interim, different recommendations within the plan of the assembly nowadays were passed by the House,” a senior official said. Among the recommendations, there was exchange of plots of land in completely different parts of the city for carrying out ventures beneath Phase-4 of the DMRC.
These recommendations incorporate designation and exchange of eight land pockets, between Madhuban Chowk and Prashant Vihar, at Mongolpuri and Peeragarhi, to the DMRC for development of structures on Janakpuri to Majlis Stop hallway of Phase-4 extend of the Delhi Metro, the authorities said. Another proposition was for exchange of a divide of land at Pul Bangash for development of a structure on R K Ashram to Majlis Stop hallway of the Phase-4 network. The work on Phase-4 had started in December 2019, with a groundbreaking ceremony but it was hit after the episode of COVID-19 in 2020 in Delhi.
