THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nipah virus has surfaced again in Kerala for the third time after a gap of one year. The Government of India rushed a team of healthcare professionals to the state in order to help in its public health measures. The public health official of Kerala said that Nipah has been confirmed in a 12-year-old child who is admitted in a private hospital in Kozhikode.
The first case of Nipah in Kerala was found in May-June 2018 in Kozhikode, which was the first recorded case in southern India. A total of 23 cases were confirmed, though only 18 of them were lab-confirmed. Only two of the total 23 cases survived the Nipah virus.
