AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Friday, August 6, decided to set up the Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority (RUDA) which will be including Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation, Nidadavole, and Kovvuru Municipalities. RUDA will have an extent of 1566.422 square km and will be covering some areas under the Godavari Urban Development Authority and Eluru Urban Development Authority.
The Cabinet also approved renaming the Godavari Urban Development as Kakinanada Urban Development Authority. Perni Venkatramaiah, Minister of Transport, Information and Public Relations, Government of Andhra Pradesh, said that the Cabinet has decided to regularize the land owned by the state government up to 300 sq yards which is being illegally used by dwelling units. The government has also approved the revised sanction of Rs 5155.73 crores for the development work at Greenfield port at Machilipatnam, Krishna District.
Venkatramaiah added that the government has also approved the revised administrative sanction of Rs 4,361.91 crore for the development of Bhavanapadu port in the Srikakulam district. The cabinet has also approved the techno-economic feasibility study report for the development of the Greenfield airport in the Nellore district at Dagadarthi. They have also decided to shift the office of state Lokayukta from Hyderabad to Kurnool.
