NEW DELHI: As the Centre looks forward to a rapid progress in redevelopment of Central Vista Avenue, or Rajpath, Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, has decided to hold review meetings on its progress on a monthly basis.
The redevelopment project was inaugurated in December 2020 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and intends to revamp 86 acres of land in Delhi. This area of land includes Rajpath, Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, Shastri Bhavan, and Udyog Bhavan.
The ongoing construction work of the Central Vista Avenue project was reviewed by Puri and a team of architects. He said, “The progress made so far is satisfactory and timely. The toil of workers is giving shape to a new architectural heritage. Citizens will get an avenue they will be proud of.” He also said that the Republic Day Parade next year will be held on the revamped Rajpath. The redevelopment project involves largescale stonework, underground amenities blocks, and work related to horticulture. “Twelve bridges on the artificial canal are being built, which are expected to be selfie points for visitors,” an official said. It is the first project to be consummated under the mega Central Vista redevelopment scheme
