THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, has launched an ‘in-car dining’ concept in the state to tackle the challenges of tourism sector during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is done so that the of ‘in-car dining’ coming to the state are able to enjoy the local cuisine while sitting in their cars. The restaurants which are run by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) in the state will cater the in-car dining.
P A Mohammed, Minister of Tourism, Government of Kerala, said that the state has initiated a project in which a new place will be allotted in every panchayat. There are also initiatives under progress to develop the new heritage and pilgrim tourism destinations to attract the local travellers.
This concept came after the state suffered a great loss in the tourism sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The state has also mooted the idea of complete vaccinated tourism and also to find new tourism destinations.
