NEW DELHI: Amidst the constant surge of new COVID-19 cases, and growing clamour for hospital beds and oxygen for COVID-19 patients in New Delhi, officials declared setting up of a COVID care centre with 500 oxygen beds. The border guarding force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, has been entrusted to run this centre.

This order from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, came after the Government of Delhi sought assistance to re-operationalise the Sardar Patel COVID care centre (SPCCC), which was first created last year in Chhattarpur area of South Delhi district. The official statement added that the Centre will also provide adequate number of medical officers and para-medical staff to man the 500 oxygenated beds at SPCCC.
