GANDHINAGAR: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani told the Gujarat Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, March 16, that hundred per cent households of the five districts among 33 are already being supplied with piped drinking water under ‘Nal se Jal’ scheme. He added that Gujarat has provided piped drinking water connections to 10.30 lakh households and a total of 96 lakh households will be connected to the water supply.
Porbandar, Botad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana and Anand are the five districts which are provided 100 per cent piped drinking water. CM Rupani said that the water sources are a big issue and its cost increases with the distance of these sources. However, Shailesh Parmar, Congress MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) from Ahmedabad, said that 30 per cent of the households in Behrampur ward, which is under his constituency, did not have any source of water.
CM Rupani also said that all the work regarding providing the piped drinking water connections to all the household will be completed under this scheme by 2022.
