NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a new scheme for tourist vehicle operators. Any tourist vehicle operator may apply for an ‘All India Tourist Authorization/Permit’ through online mode.
According to a statement released by the MoRTH, the permit will be issued after the relevant documents are submitted and the fees is deposited within 30 days of submission of such applications. The statement also said that the new set of rules will be known as “All India Tourist Vehicles Authorization and Permit Rules, 2021″. The current rules shall continue to be in force during their validity. The newly issued rules for the permits are expected to go a long way in enhancing and promoting tourism across states in India, while at the same time, improving revenue of the state governments.
The statement said that the rules as a part of the Ministry’s aim of providing uninterrupted movement to tourist passenger vehicles, after the success of goods carriage vehicles under National Permit Regime. Furthermore, the scheme allows flexibility in the form of permit being authorized for a span of three months, or its multiples thence, not overreaching three years at a time. This facility has been incorporated keeping in mind those areas of the country where there is a limited season of tourism and also consolidated a central database and fess of all such authorization/permits, which might give a sense of tourist movements, scope for improvement, promotion of tourism etc., the statement added.
