PARIS: Emmanuel Macron, President of France, has vowed that his government will work tirelessly and do all that is possible to restart the economy while still making sure that the country’s public health infrastructure is ready to deal with the virus, in case of a possible return of the virus to the country. France has entered the ‘green, low-risk zone’ amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
Terming it as the first victory of France against coronavirus, the French president assured its people that the government and civic authorities are making all possible arrangements to be ready for any possible return of the virus. “The fight against the epidemic is not finished but I am happy about this first victory against the virus,” Macron said in an address to the nation.
Macron further urged people to continue to follow social distancing norms strictly and learn how to live with the virus. He opined that France must build a strong, independent, ecologically sound, and equitable economy, in close cooperation with the European Union. Macron said that France has mobilised around €500 billion ($562 billion) to revitalise the economy amidst the coronavirus crisis, adding that his country needs to be independent and self-sustainable.
