KOLKATA: The State Government of West Bengal has launched an awareness campaign to increase the green area in the state and to keep the environment clean. The campaign was launched on August 1, by Mamta Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal. The campaign was named ‘Save Green, Stay Clean’. The CM said that state government, every year, will observe this day for protecting greenery.
She also said that the amount of tree plantation in the state has grown from 11 per cent to 19 per cent in last eight years.
The announcement was made for distribution of more than 1 lakhs saplings throughout the state for spreading greenery during the ‘padyatra’ of the Chief Minister.
