NEW DELHI: On March 12, 2019, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) expressed its concern over unsatisfactory implementation of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. The Delhi Government would not just withdraw from its responsibilities by lying and it was very dissatisfied with solid waste management in the city.
A bench headed by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, NGT Chairperson, said that there is a serious need to review at every level to implement the waste management rules and said that the situation of sewage network was very bad and “complete apathy” was on behalf of the officials.
The
tribunal said that functioning of the Delhi Pollution Control Committee
(DPCC) is extremely unsatisfactory and it has to rely on the Central Pollution
Control Board (CPCB) for data and reports every time.
