DEHRADUN: In a bid to raise awareness against the use of single-use plastic, people of Dehradun formed a 50 km long human chain on the streets of the city. More than one lakh citizens joined hands in the event which sought to contribute to boycott plastic. Trivendra Singh Rawat, Chief Minister, Uttarakhand, spoke at the event and urged the public to abstain from the banned polythene. The chain was made from Mianwala Chowk to Mussoorie Diversion, Clock Tower, GMS Road and Saharanpur Road to Clock Tower, stretching over 9 zones of the city. The CM and Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, Mayor of Dehradun, also participated in formation of the human chain. The human chain event was preplanned by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC) on October 30.
