NEW DELHI: A big fire broke out in a coaching center at Kakrola village in Dwarka but disaster was averted as the city’s fire services were able to rescue all the 300 people that were trapped in the building. 260 students and 40 staff members were entrapped inside the building, which was engulfed in flames due to a breakage in the power meter on the ground floor of the building at 11:36 am on July 7. The students were undergoing an entrance test for Delhi University (DU) at the time and the fireman had to vacate the premises immediately. The situation was brought under control before 12:30 am.
“Six fire tenders were immediately sent to the spot on receiving the information. The fire was doused in half an hour,” said Atul Garg, Chief Fire officer, Delhi Fire Services. No injury was reported said officials of Delhi Fire Services.
