GURUGRAM: In view of the Swachh Survekshan scheduled be held in February 2021, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) issued challans to 11 bulk waste generators while carrying out inspections at 33 sites in the city. The bulk waste generators were fined Rs 25,000 each for infracting Solid Waste Management Rules 2016. Out of the 33 sites inspected, 11 were issued challans, 12 were issued notices, while 10 were found to be observing the waste management rules.
Dheeraj Kumar, Joint Commissioner, Swachh Bharat Mission, MCG, mentioned that it is obligatory for the waste generators producing 50 kg of waste or more every day to process and manage waste on their own. He said that those found flouting the norms of Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 are being fined in an attempt to make sure that Gurugram acquires high position in Swachhta rankings this year.
