DEHRADUN: The health department of Uttarakhand has informed that the state recorded approximately 1000 positive cases of COVID-19 among children below the age of 9 years in the past ten days. Some of these children have already been admitted to the hospital. According to the health department, last year, only 2131 children had tested positive for the virus between April 1 and May 14.
Anoop Nautiyal, President of Social Development for Communities Foundation (SDCF), said that there are 771 active cases of COVID-19 infection per one lakh people in Uttarakhand, which is seven times more than infections per one lakh people in Uttar Pradesh. As of May 16, there were 79,379 active cases of coronavirus infection in Uttarakhand.
