THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister (CM) of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday, June 11, announced a 100-day action plan to stimulate health services, education and social security during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be implemented from June 11 to September 19.
CM Vijayan said that last year’s action plan included the schemes on economic stimulus and increasing employment but during the second wave, the situation is worse and it needs construction activities and job creation schemes to increase the pace of economic growth. The action plan includes projects worth Rs 2,464.92 crore via Public Works Department (PWD). Almost 80,000 jobs will be created through direct and indirect routes during the 100-day campaign under various departments. CM Vijayan also said that loans worth Rs 5,898 crore have been allotted by international financial institutions such as the World Bank, the German bank KFW and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) for the Rebuild Kerala Initiative (RKI).
The Department of Agriculture has begun disributing seeds for the cultivation of vegetables for Onam. CM Vijayan said that organic farming will be started on 25,000 hectares and 100 urban street markets will be opened during this period. The Kerala government also aims to distribute around 12,000 land title deeds during the 100-day action plan. He also added that this is not the complete list of projects which are to be implemented during the 100 days.
