HYDERABAD: N Satyanarayana, Commissioner and Director, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, directed the municipal commissioners on Wednesday, August 25, to continue with the ‘10 minute at 10 AM every Sunday’initiative to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases.
Under the initiative, the civic body officials will be running the aforementioned campaign over the next 10 weeks. Officials need to clean all the potential breeding spots at regular intervals. In his address, he also informed that all public places will be sprayed with one per cent sodium hypochlorite or phenolic disinfectant at least once a week.
The 10 minutes at 10 AM every Sunday is a campaign that was launched by KT Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Government of Telangana. The campaign also aims to generate awareness about the vector-borne disease and how to stop its spread. The civic officials will go door-to-door and explain to people the need to avoid stagnation of water and curb the spread of diseases like dengue and chikungunya.
