BENGALURU: Basavaraj Bommai, Chief Minister, Karnataka, in his Independence Day address announced over 10 Amrith Schemes. The welfare programs would revolve around urban development, sports, farming, etc. The schemes will also help in the development of tier-two cities across the state along with Bengaluru.

The Government of Karnataka will now be focusing on micro development projects in the state. Bommai’s announcement is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech, where he summoned the country’s leaders to mark the Amrut Varsh, or the 75th year of India’s independence.

Authorities plan on rejuvenating the water bodies of the city and improving the quality of basic amenities under the Amrith Bengaluru Lake Development Programme. The officials will also be identifying 75 slums that will be provided with amenities. Facilities like street lights, water supply, a system of waste management, and digital libraries will be set up in 750 villages under the Amrith Gram Panchayat scheme.

The Amrith Nirmala Nagara program will provide 75 urban municipal bodies with Rs 1 crore each for increasing the aesthetics of their area. Moreover, the Government of Karnataka will provide infrastructural facilities like labs, toilets, and buildings to 750 schools of Karnataka.
