NEW DELHI: A preliminary investigation conducted in Delhi on September 20, saw water samples collected from 11 different, randomly selected regions of the national capital fail to meet the quality norms set by the Bureau of India Standard (BIS).
The parameters such as pH level, odour and acidity were much higher than the prescribed norms. The final report is expected in a month, as per sources.
The water samples collected from tap supply from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the NDMC were voluntarily submitted by Delhi households to the BIS.
To address this issue, Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister has called a meeting on October 3. Senior officials from the Delhi government, DJB, NDMC and the urban development ministry will be present.
