JAIPUR: The walled city of Jaipur has been awarded the World Heritage Certification by Audrey Azoulay, Director-General, UNESCO. The DG presented the certificate to Shanti Dhariwal, Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister, Rajasthan, saying that it was truly an honor and privilege to visit Jaipur. She added that the international community has recognised the outstanding efforts of the people of Jaipur to preserve and capitalise on their cultural heritage.
Azoulay further said that the UNESCO is very proud to have, since last summer, the walled city of Jaipur inscribed on their world heritage list. The city is iconic because of its architecture, forts and palaces and is in everybody’s imagination.
