NEW DELHI: An ABC News affiliate reported on Tuesday, December 29, that a 45-year old nurse in California, United States of America (USA), tested COVID-19 positive after receiving the Pfizer vaccine shots. Matthew W, the nurse who tested COVID-19 positive, said that after he received the vaccine, he had sore arm for a day but there were no other side-effects.
According to the report, six days later he fell ill on Christmas Evening, after working his shift in a COVID-19 unit. He suffered from chills which later converted into muscle aches and fatigue. He then went for testing and was found positive for COVID-19 a day later, report added.
Christian Ramers, Infectious Disease Specialist, San Diego, said that the consequences were not unexpected. He added that it is clearly evident from the vaccine clinical trials that it will take approximately 10 to 14 days before the vaccine begins to protect the body from novel coronavirus. The first dose will take the efficiency to 50 per cent whereas the second shot will take it to 95 per cent, he added.
