Centre approves 1.12 lakh more affordable houses, Under PMAY

NEW DELHI: The Centre has approved construction of around 1.12 lakh more affordable houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) for urban poor in eight states.

The approval was given in a meeting of Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) of PMAY (U). According to the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, a total of around 55 lakh houses are being funded under the PMAY (Urban) across the country till now.

As per the statement issued, “Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs approves construction of 1, 12,213 more affordable houses for the betterment of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (Urban). Out of that, 37,719 houses have been sanctioned for Andhra Pradesh meanwhile the houses sanctioned for Haryana is 19,858 houses. The number of houses sanctioned for Madhya Pradesh is 18,375, Maharashtra is 12,238, Chhattisgarh is 10,632, Karnataka is 8761, J&K is 4442 and Arunachal Pradesh is 188.”

“In order to execute these projects, a central assistance of Rs 1683.18 crore will be provided”, said Ministry.
