RANCHI: Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JLPS) is now set to provide technical support to the schemes and programmes running under the Urban Livelihood Mission in the state. In a bid to ensure implementation of these programmes on the ground level, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between JLPS, Rural Development Department (RDD), and Urban Development Department (UDD) on August 3.
Dr Manish Ranjan, Secretary, RDD, commented that the collaboration between the departments to provide livelihood to urban masses is exemplary, which has been immensely affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that they are aiming to reach maximum people and JLPS will simultaneously cooperate for the social and economic development of the urban poor of the State, with the help of self-help groups. JLPS has been engaged in rural livelihood promotion for 11 years now. Nanacy Sahay, CEO, JLPS, said that this is a good opportunity for the JLPS to prove to be a milestone in training urban self-help groups and provide them with facilities of financial inclusion, credit linkage and bookkeeping skills.
