NEW DELHI: The 7th Smart Cities India Expo recently concluded at Pragati maidan, New Delhi. It was held from 23-25 March, 2022. The three-day event saw a convergence of multiple stakeholders in urban development and governance. Key themes for this year’s expo were Smart Cities, Smart Transport, Smart Buildings, Smart Water, Smart Energy, Cleantech and Urban infrastructure.
The award ceremony was held on last day of the event, to recognize the efforts of city leaders in betterment of urban infrastructure using technology and innovation. The awards were given in the categories of Smart Cities India Awards and Fintech India Innovation Awards.
The recipients for some of the Smart Cities Awards 2022 were as follows:
Best Startup Initiatives Award– Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Limited for B-Nest (Bhopal Incubation Center)
City Innovation Award– Ujjain Smart City Limited for Digital Center
Digital City Award– Kolkata Smart City Limited for Digital Services in New Town Kolkata
Safe City Awards– Dehradun Smart City Limited for DICCC (Dehradun Integrated Command Control Centre)
Smart Parking Initiative Award– Indore Smart City Development Limited for Two-Wheeler Multilevel Parking and Mechanised Robotic Parking
Smart Urban Mobility Award– Silvaasa Smart City Limited for E-bus Project
Smart Waste Disposal and Clean City– New Town Kolkata Green Smart City Corporation Limited for AI Solid Waste Management System in New Town Kolkata
City of the Year– Ujjain Smart City Limited for MRIDA (MahakaalRudrasagar Integrated Development Approach)
Best City Leader of the Year Award– Athar Amir Khan, CEO, Srinagar Smart City Limited

The Incubation Award– Troncart Solutions Pvt Ltd
The awards concluded with a speech fromJibesh Kumar, Minister of Labour Resources and Information Technology, Government of Bihar. He enlisted numerous achievements of the Government of Bihar in the field of technology and innovation and invited businesses to invest in Bihar, especially in the IT sector.
