Tirupati Smart City receives Rs 153 crore from CM

TIRUPATI: Tirupati Smart City has received a sum of Rs 153 crore from the state government, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, as stated by Botsa Satyanarayana, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Government of Andhra Pradesh, on Tuesday, August 3. The Tirupati Smart City scheme works towards proper waste management and maintaining cleanliness in the city.
Satyanarayana, while addressing a review meeting with the mayor and municipal commissioner of the city, said that the model of doorstep collection of garbage will be replicated in all towns and cities in the state. In the review meeting, the TMC Commissioner highlighted the 80 planned programs and urged municipal officials to visit the city and supervise the garbage clearance activity. The Commissioner added that under the new property tax policy, the charges for each house of 300 sq ft is Rs 350. To assist people in further transactions, each house’s tax details will be digitalized.  

He pointed out that over 150 tonnes of waste is being collected from Tirupati through the waste management system. The water treatment plant, which will have a capacity of 25 million litre per day, is under construction at Tatipaka. He added that the Garuda Varadhi flyover will be opened till September 2021 to reduce the pilgrim traffic in the city. 

E-health programs for students in school during the COVID-19 pandemic, solar roof energy, and a new building for the Tirupati Municipal Corporation are some of the other prominent works underway currently.
