Thane: Thane will become the first place in the country to have a city resilience plan, which will contribute towards citizens’ happiness. The Thane MC signed up with Rockefeller Foundation, Singapore, to draft this plan for the city so that it is better prepared to deal with all kinds of crisis in future.

In its 2018-19 Budget TMC announced its commitment to improving the happiness of its citizens is of utmost importance

When the TMC announced its Budget for 2018-19, it said its commitment to improving the happiness of its citizens is of utmost importance. But only a healthy, strong city that does not get disturbed by any kind of challenges can be truly happy. Hence, the TMC decided to sign up with RFS to design a city resilience framework (CSF) for Thane.

Sandip Malvi, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, TMC said, “We met Henry Blas, the company’s Asia-Pacific head, and Saurabh Gaidhani, the regional head for Asia. They are forming the CSF for over 100 cities in the world and would also assist us in the same.”

Next week Departmental heads of the TMC will manage an interactive workshop with RFS where they will talk about the parameters of the plan. The prominent parameters to feature in CSF involve health, infrastructure employment, disaster management, transport, water supply, etc.

“The aim of CSF is to come up with a plan to improve the resilience of Thanekars in the face of any crisis or challenge, so that life returns to normal soon,” he said. Even Thanekars are welcome to give their suggestions on the same. The draft of the index would be out within two months.
